I have an 80GB too, and I have hooked it up to my TV several times with sucess. My cables plug into the headphone jack and then on the other end there is a red, white and yellow one I plug them into the back of my DVD player. The ipod has to be set on "tv on" but it should work, and if it doesn't you should take it in and ask them how to do it or if something is wrong. (The cables I use were only $20, so don't go out and think you have to buy anything really expensive)

How many RCA connectors does your set of cables have? If there are only two (either red/black or red/white), then all you actually have are audio hookups. You'd need a yellow RCA cable or an S-Video cable to supply the video signal as well, and it would have to be hooked up through the dock connector, not the audio-only headphone jack. The only set of cables that I know of that will let you do this is made by Monster Cables, and they're a bit on the expensive side.

Yeah that happened to me, for the kind of cables your using the TV has to be off (on the ipod) for it to show up otherwise i'm not sure. Also make sure everything is plugged in firmly.

the Pod may have a firmware problem. download/install/run the iPod updater from apple.com and try your iPod-to-TV set-up again. if it doesn't work, bring the unit to an Apple store or repair facility and have it checked. not all pods are created equal.

I don't know what you are honestly talking about. Are you trying to plug your iPod into the TV which is unheard of for me unless your going through something or are you just talking about the iPod screen itself. If your talking about the screen I suggest taking it back.
