I cant even stand just looking at a picture of a plane. I get creeped out just by looking at a toy model of one. I dont know why..but they scare me to death. Anybody else have a plane phobia?

I actually enjoy flying once the plane is in the air, but when I'm boarding and the plane is taking off I start looking at all the people suspiciously, and all sorts of horrible things go through my mind, like being hijacked, crashing, engine failure and so on. Once we get into the air, I usually feel better and I just enjoy looking at earth below and taking pictures. But if there is turbulence, I get a little nervous. Flying is actually safer than driving. Imagine 100 other planes flying right beside your plane ... it's basically the same when driving, but with cars.

I'm not too fond of flying...yes I am a little scared especially when landing. It seems to be an inexact science.

I've had 2 bad landings...first was coming into Paris France aboard MEA (Middle Eastern Airlines) in 1987, a couple sharp left turns before coming in, some of the other passengers were concerned too so it just wasn't just me, and the landing was pretty hard...second was last March coming to Norfolk VA from Vegas on Southwest, the last 20 minutes were really bad because of turbulence, but the landing was harder than the other one, I thought we had damage to the plane but supposively it was fine.

Only real planes that are flying in the sky since 9-11 in the USA.
And I've never been on an airplane and have no desire to go on one.

Well, no, but I have something that may help...there is a better chance of being struck by lightning AND hit by a car in the same day than getting in a plane accident.

I dont have a phobia, but I still dont like them. There isn't much room and can make you feel claustrophobic. It used to be alot easier for me when I was little we could get a spare seat and I could lay down. and then there is the boredom! Not to mention delays and other airport crap. After 9/11 it just isn't worth it.

I am so afraid to fly that I have to take muscle relaxers and some wine before I board the flight. Now, I don't freak on the plane, I'm just tense and nervous. I hate flying, but I do it.

It is amazing how they work. I understand the physics as an intelligent person but I'm still not comfortable when I fly. I also hate heights. I do not let my fears though to control my life. It is all in your mind. When you realize it is in between your ears, you know you have control.
