I am paying child support for 2 children, one of which isn't even mine. I am too broke to afford a lawyer. My ex-wife won't seek child support from the real father, because he only works part time, and she knows she'll get more money from me. I live in Ontario, and I can't find an Ontario web-site anywhere that helps me!

Did you ever have a paternity test done through the D.A.s office? If there is no support order form the court, then just stop paying her, if there is a support order, go into the court clerk and file a motion to show cause to change the existing order and tell them why. Not because your broke and can't afford it, but you feel the child would benefit from having contact with his natural father. Know what I mean? What's best for the child is the relationship he could build with his real dad. (follow me?)

My dh is a lawyer and you can't just sign yourself off. The mother will have to sign too.

If you haven't been court ordered then stop paying for the child that is not yours but support your own child like a man would!

There have been court cases in Canada where a father who has been court ordered to apy child support proves he is not the biological father and still has to bide by the original ruling.

I feel really badly for you. I heard that if a woman cheats on her husband and gets pregnant, the husband automatically legally is responsible as the father if she has the baby while they were married. I think the laws should change and men should not be obliged to pay for a child that is not his. I don't care what people say "It's not the child's fault" blah blah blah... I am a woman receiving child support from my ex (she is his) and I think its sick for a woman to put this on a man.

Visit your local county courthouse which handles child support payments. Explain to them that you're not the father of the child and perhaps get DNA to prove it. I'm not sure what your divorce decree states, it appears that you must be the father since it wasn't contested at the time of the divorce proceedings... Why are you saying something now?

You need to contact someone who will help you take a paternity test to present to the court proving your not the father. You can get all the money credited toward your future payments that you paid for a child that wasn't yours. Where's your credit card, sell something or get two jobs.Heck, what would happen if you started paying half wouldn't they summons you? You need that DNA test.

I don't. But if you lived in the US, your lawyer would file a report to the court that you had 'one issue" with this woman...meaning one child and therefore you would not be held responsible for the other or future issues as she probably carries your name.

You need to go back to court bud even if it is legal aide... If the one child is not yours you should not even have to be paying this but the other one is yours and you need to step up and be a dad... Do not be a dead beat dad!
