Divide both sides by -1

3x^2-18x+10=0

Use the quadratic formula to solve for x.

>>This does not factor.

You would need factors of 3•10 to add up to 18. 1+30 = 31, 2+15 = 17, 3+10 = 13, 5+6 = 11. There aren't any, so the quadratic doesn't factor. It can be solved, though, using the quadratic formula. Write it as 3x² - 18x + 10 = 0, then

x = 3 ± [√(18² - 4•3•10)]/6
x = 3 ± 2•√51 / 3

-3x^2+18x-10=0
=>3x^2-18x+10=0
=>3x^2-18x=-10
=>x^2-6x= -10/3 [dividing all terms by 3]
=>(x)^2-2.x.3+(3)^2=-10/3+9 [adding 3^2 or 9 to both sides]
=>(x-3)^2=17/3
=>x-3=+-sqrt 17/3
=>x=3+-sqrt17/3

- 3x^2 + 18x - 10=0 for convenience, multiply by -1
3x^2-18x+10=0 there are know rational factors.

x=(18+/-√(18^2-4*3*10))/6
x=3+/-(1/6)√(324-120)
x=3+/-(1/6)√204
x=3+/-(1/3)√51

-3x^2 + 18x -10 =0
a=-3
b=18
c=-10

x= (-18 +/- sqrt(18^2-4(-3)(-10)))/2(-3)
x = (-18 +/- sqrt(204))/-6
x = 3 +/- sqrt(51) /3
x = 3 +/- 2.38
x = 5.38 or 0.62

(x-5.38)(x-0.62) =0

split 18x into 6x+5x

(-3x^2+6x)+(5x-10)=0

-3x(x-2)+5(x-2)

(-3x+5)(x-2)
