"Liberals" does seem to mean free, however they stole the world from the true believers in freedom, libertarians, and then perverted it. Would "true" believers in freedom want bigger government and restrictions on business? En Contrare, says Mr. Founding Fathers.

The Founding Fathers were most likely members of their churchs for political reasons, like how rulers-taking-new-religion-under-wing spawned (Constantine and Christianity?)

Some were. Many weren't. Yes some were Deist. John Adams was Unitarian. Others said they were Christian because that's just how it was back then, you had to say you were a Christian or people would question your sanity and morals. More important than the founding fathers' religion was whether the founding fathers wanted the country to be a Christian country. Overwhelmingly, they didn't want that. I saw a recent documentary about it where they quoted guy after guy saying that they didn't want America's laws to be religious in nature, that that was the very thing they were escaping from in Britain!

The founding fathers worked toward change against the traditions of the British authority, thus the were liberal in every sense of the word. Libertarians in the present day are wishy washy, conservative where it matters and liberal in denial. The founding father believed in deity for sure, but not necessarily in the same way that it is generally expressed in America today. Comparing them with yourself is like comparing apples to oranges.

You will have to wait & ask them. Bejamin Franklin was believed to be Deist. Thomas Jefferson & George Waskington have often been identified as a Deist but both were members of the Episcopalian Church. Most were members of area churches & their beliefs were in their hearts unseen by men.

Most of the Founding Fathers stated that they were opposed to any political party as it made men bicker amongst themselves.
I would have to disagree with your conclusions as they are unproven opinion only.

Actually I would say a mix of the Constitution party and Libertarian party and only a couple were known Deist's
A few more such as Franklin and Jefferson are disputed.
Most were Christians.

our founding fathers were not all Christians but many were and for good reason as christian teachings principles are better for any society wheather or not you believe in god or not , I do agree that the gov, should not per-SE recognize any particular religion that doesn't mean we won't have our laws based on the christian principles, our common Law which is supposed to be the law of the land is a hand me down from the old Roman Magna - Carta and its whole emphisis is on morality and what other way would you have it? maybe muslim or ???
