Hi, my name is Billy and I'm a caveman. I know nothing about how the internet works but, my internet activity keeps stopping...What I mean is that when I check my local area network status(the 2 computer icons in the bottom right) my received activity is frozen. Is my modem going bad? How can I get a new DSL modem?? Also, will it cost money and where can i get it? I use SBC Yahoo DSL.

The limited connection problem usually is not due to the modem. Microsoft's Service pack 2 sometimes causes this, you will have to search for a patch through the Microsoft site, I can't remember, sorry. Secondly, try this. Right click on my Computer, choose Properties. A block called System Properties will appear, choose the Hardware Tab, then click on Device Manger. Under Network Adapters, right click on you Network Interface Card (NIC). Choose Properties. Still with me. A block will appear, and there is drop down block under Value set at Auto Sense. Change it to 100BaseTX Full_Duplex, and hit OK. Finally, gasp, if your Internet fully stops, unplug the modem for at least 30 seconds, restart the computer, replug the modem before the computer gets to the start page. Chow

Wal Mart sells them cheap, but check with Yahoo SBC and make sure it's not the connection on their side first. Good Luck
