The pain comes and goes, but sometimes I almost can't walk, it hurts so much to lift my foot. My foot does not hurt and neither do my thighs or hips. Sometimes my leg kind of aches around my upper shin. I have jerked my knee before, and it never felt like this. In this case, the pain is not so much in my knee as below it. Does anyone know what this could be or what I should do?

I don't think this is shin splints, because I have had slight shin splints before -- this is not an aching right on the front of my shin, but more like throughout that top part of my leg.

Sounds like shin splints.

**If you don't think it's shin splints, then think about what you might have done to cause it. Do you do a lot of running or working out? Then it might be a chronic overuse injury and you might want to cut back on what you're doing and see if it feels better. Besides shin splints, you can get stress fractures or damaged tendons or ligaments.

If you don't do a lot of working out and also don't know of any acute injury, then it might be worthwhile to get it checked out. You might have something more serious that requires medical attention.

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Consult a doctor if it persists. You can also look for information in the web. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html

my guess would be shin splints. i used to getthose alot while i was on track. we usually stretched our legs out on the floor and put bags of frozen peas on our shins. it numbs the pain, and it will make ur shins stronger since theyll be numb while you walk on them.

It must be the tendon on the knee: needs check-up, asap! ACOL, perhaps. Injury: over-strain.
