If by Orange County you mean Orange County California vs. Kansas City. I'll give K.C. the two thumbs up.
First and foremost not a crowded: You don't spend half your life stuck in Freeway traffic.
Second: more sportsman and sportswoman friendly.as far as hunting and fishing.
Third housing is cheaper and don't have to worry about wild fires or earth quakes.
Fourth: Air is cleaner, less smog.
Fifth more centrally located in the country.
Sixth: People are a heck of allot more friendly. They are also more down to earth (not stuck-up)
Seventh: Dress as rule is more casual.
Eighth you in driving distance to St. Louis and Chicago.
ninth you are right on the Missouri River which splits Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City Missouri. One side you are in Kansas. The other side you are in Missouri.
Tenth: Eating out is a lot better. Plenty of nice restaurants to eat at.with good food reasonably priced.
Eleventh: They treat truck drivers a lot better in K.C.
AND NO I DO NOT LIVE IN OR KANSAS CITY. BEEN THERE DRIVING A TRUCK. BUT DID LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOR A TIME!

I wouldn't compare Orange County to Kansas City, but to Kansas City's version of Orange County, Johnson County, KS. Orange County is basically Johnson County on steroids.
