Hey. Well my boyfriend & I of a few years had to suffer the shock of are life [so far], our condom broke. We werent able to acknowledge this fact until of course we pulled out.

This happened at around 9:00-9:30pm. As soon as we realized this I called the local CVS asap. I made sure they had Plan B in stock & went there to get it asap. I took the 1st pill @ 10:40 and I'll be taking the 2nd one at 10:40am tomorrow, since you're supposed to take it 12hrs after the 1st one.

The pill is known to be affective 72hrs after unprotected sex, and the sooner you take the pill the better it will work, 89%[i believe] chance of it working.

Would you say that I'm almost very safe, since I took the 1st pill 1hr after the unsafe sex? Have any females or boyfriends/husband been faced w/ this same matter? I would love to hear what you have to say. Thanks guys.

PS. Please don't judge me. I don't take birth control because of the health risks & it's not my fault the condom broke.

First, people who judge you are foolish. You were using protection it failed and even if you messed up and weren't using protection that's what Plan B is for! You took very soon after sex and it should be effective.

Did you know that Plan B is actually supposed to supress ovulation? When women concieve it's rarely right after sex and never during. It takes sperm awhile to get to the egg. Sperm then can live in your body for a few days. So if one were to have unprotected sex a day or three before ovulating the sperm, they could become pregnant three days after sex! The secondary use of Plan B is to stop implantation of fertilised eggs, but no one is even sure that this happens or that it happens very well. Just thought that was interesting especially in the face of American "Plan B is abortion" ignorance. People who judge are just that ignorant.

Good luck!

Remember, you're cycle might be thrown off a bit. You might menstrate earlier or later than usual. Take a pregnancy test if you're period is late and keep testing until it's either positive or you get your period. False negative pregnancy tests are common.

Well, there are a lot of people who will have VERY different opinions on this. In my personal opinion, if you would not like to have his child plan b would be a perfectly fine option for you. I personally do not consider it an abortion at this point. The sperm and egg would have only just met and are not even attached to the lining of your uterus yet. Studies have shown that the progesterone hormone in Plan B prevents ovulation but does not affect a fertilized egg, and therefore it's not really considered abortion. People mix up emergency contraception with abortion, and it is really inaccurate. Either way... Do what you think is right. As far as the rest of the story, Honey, if you said NO... that's rape!!! Even if you were in a relationship or had sex with him before. No man has the right to violate you no matter how big or strong he is. You need to tell some one and get help. I wish you all the best and perhaps you should get some counselling for this as well. You're in my thoughts sweetheart. Do what you feel is right.

I wouldn't worry too much. After I had a surgery, I miss a couple pills during my recovery in the hospital and a few weeks later, just kind of forgot about it when my significant other and I...well...you know. Right afterwards I started freaking out since we already have a one year old oops. I went to the doctor the next day since I needed a prescription and then found out the pharmacy was out of stock and couldn't transfer the rx to another phamacy close by til the next day. Well, by the time I finally got the plan B, I only had about an hour left before the 72 hours was up, and it worked just fine. It's a very effective method of emergency birth control, but it really shouldn't be relied upon. I suggest maybe talking to your doctor about your birth control options that have a lower risk of health problems.

1) Talk to your ob/gyn. If you can't take birth control because of health risks, you need to find an alternative if you're having sex. It's great that you use protection, but you also need to take some form of birth control.

2) You should be fine, but you and your boyfriend need to come up with a plan in case you ARE pregnant. Are you going to have an abortion? Adopt? What? ALWAYS come up with a plan.

3) Most of all, just relax. Concentrate on something else. I'm glad you got Plan B, but if you can take Plan B why can't you take a birth control pill? Expect your hormones to be screwy for the next few months.

don't worry, you have a very low chance of being pregnant because you took it right away. just to make sure you can take a home pregnancy test in 2 weeks, but i bet it will be negative. good job for using a condom and good thinking for getting to the pharmacy right away. condoms are great for preventing std's, but as you now know they aren't 100% effective against pregnancy. i recommend that you use some other form of contraceptives, it doesn't have to be birth control but you don't want to have to run out to the pharmacy all the time to get the plan b pill. the health risks of bc are low and the beat the heck out of pregnancy! also plan b is just a strong dose of birth control pills. but if you really don't want to use hormones (which i understand), try the sponge or spermicide or something like that. good luck!

sounds like the same story I had with my bf. You're safe, don't worry. Emergency contraceptives work pretty fine, and seams that you followed the directions properly so you can breathe again.
Just one thing: this kind of accidents are not that unusual as you think, there can be other situations and is better for you 2 to take more precautions. i will advise you to take a regular pill while you are sexually active, consult a gyno and you will see that there are several options adjusted for each case.
God bless you.

I would say that you'll be quite safe. There's a number of factors to take into account here. Remember, it's 89% effective IF an egg was fertilized. Depending on where you were in your cycle, the fertility of your eggs and his sperm, and so on, it may have been nigh impossible for you to get pregnant in the first place.

Take that into account, and THEN add that good of a success rate. I think you'll be a-ok. Of course there is exceptions to every rule, so be sure to know for certain, but it looks pretty good for you.

Don't worry about it, as you took the pill alot sooner than most women ever do, as it's a very effective way to prevent an unwated pregnancy.

I don't have any experience with the medication myself, but I know some girls who have had to use it for the same reason as you, and none of them got pregnant. so I would say your chances of being pregnant are basically none.
Best Wishes
