with this phone can i surf the internet for free usin wi fi at like bread co or somthin, so that i dont have to pay for a media package?

yes and no. You have to have the internet program turned on by the cell phone company. Otherwise, you can not do nothing. There is a certain code to turn on the internet part on your phone. And even if you could turn on the code by yourself, your minutes would be monitored. In other words, you can not do it.
