It's been 6 years...we still talk from time to time ....i'm in a bad relationship.....but i'm not looking to have an affair.....i care more for him than he seems to for me.....he get annoyed and angry with me, even via occasional e-mail, he says he's not ready to try anything with me right now, and i told him the same, because i'm not...but i still love him...i just want to know when he rarely sees me and only occasionally e-mails/chats me, why he feels he needs to put up the defense and claim he just wants to be friends..

He probably likes some attention here & there without hassles.
Sort of a friends with benefits deal or arrangement.
He won't commit to you emotionally.
You'd get used. Stay away.

He wants to move on, and being friends with you the way you appear to want to be friends just isn't in the plan. Now you need to move on and allow him to take the lead in maintaining your friendship. Maybe if you do, your relationship with your new boyfriend just might magically get better.

let it be just friend.. you broke up for a reason and need to leave it just friends..He may be looking deeper into it then you.. maybe he was really hurt over it all and would not like to go down the same path again... leave it at just friends... you maybe just looking for some extra affection and he at one point knew how to give that to you.. and this is something that you may feel that you are a lacking but may not want to admit to it..

he just playing games so leave it along. and the real reason that

he doesn't have romantic feelings for you anymore. he's only your "friend" when it's convenient for him.. like when he's drunk, bored or single for a while.
i'm sorry, but it sounds like he's moved on. you need to do the same.
