I don't know anybody named Petunia. Or at least, nobody will admit to having that name. The name -- how should I say this without putting too fine a point on it -- sucks. If you just have to have a flower name, I would say Rose or Daisy would be better. Violet is still better than Petunia, but not by much.

Petunia is an excellent name for a flower, but probably not for a child.
How about Sarah? Or Mary?

Only if you are a pig. "Petunia Pig".
People identify immediately with a name. If you saw a resume' that had the name Homer and another with the name Brian, you might not want to even look at "Homer". People dont realize how important names are.
If you are looking for baby names, please remember IT'S YOUR KID don't scar it.

for a pet, yes. For a child, though, it has this unpleasant connotation, That was Porky Pig's girlfriend's name.
I would think of that consequence and answer "no".

The Thing's aunt in the Fantastic Four had that name but I think it is outdated today.
