Um... why were you having unprotected sex with a junkie? I hope you aren't doing that anymore.
You'll never know whether that bothered your son or not. Or the fact that his father is probably not a part of his life may have something to do with it. You'll never know.
I wish your son all the best. I hope he doesn't suffer too much for all your mistakes.

It is generally believed that a father's taking drugs don't impact the child. However, often people who are hooked on drugs are hooked for a reason. Untreated ADD, learning differences or bi-polar disorder can be a big impact because drugs or alcohol temporarily calm the noise in the head of someone with these issues. Your son could have inherited some of these problems. And these problems can lead to speech issues.
I would take him to a speech therapist if you can, and ask them assess whether he is just a "slow" speaker or might have some deeper issues. While he is young to know about the other issues, you can at least have him evaluated.

I know its scary to find out info like that, but really his drugged up sperm isn't going to cause your baby to have speech problems. My suggestion to you would be to have his hearing checked. My husband had speech problems too as a child, and it was because he had so many ear infections, it effected how he heard things and how he pronounced them as well. If his hearing checkes out then a speech therapist would be a great help to you. good luck and I hope all is okay.

Yes that is probably most certainly causing your son's speech problems. My adopted brother's mom was on drugs when she was pregnant with him and he has speech, memory, and other physical problems due to the drug use.
Get him into speech therapy as soon as possible, and keep a close eye on him as he developes because some signs and symptoms will show up down the road.

i dont think that would affect it ... it would only be if you took drugs while you were pregnant. ..but most kids have a speech problem at some point ...he will get over it ..you could always take him to speech therapy or somethin if it keeps up

Not likely, but not impossible. Drugs can affect the chromosomes, but it is not likely that a fertile zygote would result.
