The meaning of life can only be found in a haze of drug-induced euphoric insight. To find your meaning of life: go get high, sit for a while, think about it, and write it down. It might not make sense when you sober up, but hey, it's worth a shot, ah?

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

The meaning comes from the questioning.
First you get born, second you develop and then ask.
All living beings do live until one of them, the latest development of genomic art, is able to set a question.
The question by itself raises the meaning.
Here lies the human standard.
Another name for it : self consciousness.
Questioning the meaning of life - a great inheritance - leads to philosophy - moral and political topics.
The very best of any living scheme : civilisation.
For each and every single among us : a departure to take part to the information of matter starts with the question of the meaning.
A French philosopher, Jean-Paul Sartre, did state that each act from each person changes the world.
That might be an interesting meaning.

The meaning of life is to perpetuate the infusion of matter. To accelerate the {given} spirit(s) within the given body, thereby immersing yourself into the omniverse. This theory relies on the facts of String theory, M theory, spirits, and other beliefs. You people think all of these topics are separate, but they are all one thing. They all only exist in this dimension. The existence of Parallel dimensions has been proven. An animal having virgin birth has been proven. Even reincarnation can be proven, because of who I am. So, As far as what life is for, it is merely to beget more life. The essence that inspires you and I to think is proof of the spirit. When it is ready, it will merge with the omniverse. There is no Hell.

God's nature is love. Love needs someone to love and to be loved in return. God created us to receive His love and to return His love. By doing that and by loving the other people that God created we magnify and expand love in Creation.
Our personalities are individual but our life is part of God's Life. This is asserted in both the Christian and the Hindu scriptures and I have personally experienced the truth of this. The problem is that our mind is clouded by what we are taught in secular education, the intensity of the physical senses, the illusion that we are our mind, and our selfish way of life.
Part of the work of living is to regain the awareness of our true self, realize our communion (Common union) with God and our brothers and sisters.
What I am going to say is not exactly an answer to your question but, if we don't live this life in the physical world so as to inherit Eternal life in Heaven and avoid eternal pain in Hell, it won't make much difference to us what the answer to your question is.

Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.
I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.
You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.
The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us. -

The meaning of life is internal to you. Any meaning that people report here or anywhere else that is external to you is illusion and not true. The meaning of life is to find out who you are and what your relationship is to the universe. Through that you will find inner happiness, something that nothing external to you, whether children, possessions, activities, travel, or anything else can ever bring you.

As mentioned everyone's meaning of life is subjective. Well, yet i adhere to the fact that it should have been the goal of everyone to link back to Godhead. The purpose of our lives is to reflect the love of God on earth through our actions, the love that we give and receive thus, through our sincere prayers and genuine love for all merciful and almighty, we will attain his abode. Love to understand the meaning of life. Serve him bindly with unconditional love. "Oh Lord may our consciousness be fired with th name, fired thus, may our consciousness find your abode".

For an individual to ponder the meaning of "LIFE" on the grand scale is like chasing the wind. For; the length of our existence on earth is so short and the unfolding of "life" is so long. It is like viewing one frame of an epic movie and attempting to guess its meaning. The best we can do is scratch around the earth,
and find something that we enjoy and makes us happy and place meaning in those activities. "There is a time and a purpose for everything under heaven". We; as individuals, just wont be around (in our current form) to observe this purpose and glean "MEANING" from it all.

Life is what you make it.
We, as individuals, all have different things that are important to us. It should be our goal to do the best we possibly can at what is on our minds, and in our hearts.
For me, this question is old. In the months I've come to this site, it's appeared nearly every day. There is no answer--not one that is right for everyone.
