Open question with not enough info. Are you talking about personally adjusting to a situation, to society, to a relationship? How about learning to adjust to yourself, to understand yourself. I would say that any adjustment begins with developing an understanding of yourself. Learn first to love, honor and accept yourself, without judgment. Then you will find yourself learning to live with or be with anybody. Good luck.

What it really is, is the act of looking within and making changes to your behaviour and actions, self improvement. But it kind of depends on who said it to you and why. If it was a guy telling you you need a "personal adjustment" it might have meant your button was undone. lol
