log equals the exponent..always know that

log = x (x is the exponent in exponential form)

the base is the actual base itself in exponential form

the value that comes after log[base]___ is the actual answer
ie., base to the exponent equals the value in the blank

so log[base5]x = 3

we know the base is 5, and the exponent is 3

so x = 5^3 = 125
