Put some oil on it (cooking or baby, it doesn't matter), that will loosen it up slightly. Then get a safety pin or needle and go between the knots. I may take awhile but i have need not been able to unknot one of my chains yet.

Depends on the chain size. But I have that same problem with a favorite necklace of mine. What I do is I pinch the knot in that necklace b/w my thumb and forefinger and I start rubbing really fast until it loosens a bit. Then, when it's loose enough, I undo it with my nails, careful not to break it. If all else fails, take it to a jewelry repair shop.

If it's a thin chain necklace, I suggest using tweezers to try and separate the knot or pull it the right way to make room in the knot (make sense?!)

That's what I used to get the knots out of my thin necklace. It took me awhile though.. like half an hour... or more. But that's because I had more than one knot.

Good luck.
