Breastmilk
If the rash has little red dots around the border it may be yeast. You can try an antifungal cream (the kind for yeast infections -topical cream not the internal one, or jock itch cream they are the same thing.) use a SMALL amount twice a day. If it isn't a lot better in 48 hours then it isn't yeast (it is usually better in 24, but a really severe case can be different)

Canesten.
You can buy it at the local drugstore in the foot care aisle. It's an anti-fungal meant for athlete's foot, but it's what helps. My pharmacist recommended it.
A doctor will prescribe a mixture of canesten and cortate. This is even better, but if you want a quick fix without the dr visit, head to your nearest drugstore.
Also, vaseline is the best barrier from wetness. Regular diaper rash is caused by wetness. Try and keep pee and poo as far from baby's skin as possible. After u clean the baby's bum, slather a thick layer of vaseline on there. That'll do that trick. My son had two diaper rashes since he was born(2.5 years ago), both were cause by unnecessary antibiotics(wasn't regular diaper rash, but instead a yeast infection).

first off, are you sure its diaper rash? it may be a yeast infection, in which case diaper rash creams would not help. Yeast infections in baby girls are not that uncommon, and are widely mistaken for diaper rash. If the rash is not getting better with the typical diaper rash creams, you mom should really take her to the pedi.

i have five children the ONLY thing i have ever used is cornstarch or medicated powder, nothing else and i have never had a lasting problem, if her rash is bad may i suggest using the cornstarch for a few days before medicated powder because the powder may sting at first, over the counter ointments don;t let the skin breath, also let her go a bit without a diaper ever day until it clears up, the air will help, good luck

I like the Butt Paste. However, our little guy just got over having a strep rash - strep is going around here terribly, the same one as strep throat causes the rash. Also could be thrush, which you'd want an anti-fungal for an possibly a prescription one.

I would try Balmex, that always worked for my son. But if it doesn't help by the next day, definitely go to the doctor make sure it's not a yeast infection. They are much more common in babies than people realize.

My favorite so far is vaseline. Of course, it is our first diaper rash, but I put just a little bit one there once last night and this morning it was gone. Good luck!

I have found giving the little one a good bath ( I know this will involve some screaming on the baby's part but i think this step is essential) (just try to be gentle, but you still have to clean it w/ soap and water) let the little one air dry. Then I have found 1) a thin layer of Vaseline (to keep wetness away) 2) "Butt Paste" Pile it on nice and thick... don't be stingy. 3) a nice amount of medicated baby powder (Johnson & Johnson's) and remember with time it will go away.... if not take baby in the see the Dr. Good Luck!

Breastmilk is the miracle cure for tons of things... including diaper rashes. Rinse babies bottom and dab on some breastmilk on a saturated cotton ball. It really works.
