I wash and dry my hoodies by machine use fabric softener to your washer when it recomends it (the cycle) I cheat and use the Downey Ball. (the fabric softener does not have to be Downey either) and for really staticy stuff i use a fabric sheet when I put the item in the dryer even when I used liquid stuff in the washer. I surely hope this works for you like it has worked for me.
Good Luck

They have anti-static spray that you can use after the clothing is washed. Static Guard works best for me: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100759&navAction=jump&navCount=1&id=prod4260 to see the product that walgreens sells.

Expect that this will happen more often during the winter, though. It will go away once the season changes.

It's called lint, and 100% polyester is not supposed to be put in the dryer. It is supposed to be either dry cleaned or LINE DRIED which is my best suggestion.

Put a drier sheet in the drier with it or put fabric softener in the washer when you wash it!

they are pills and that happens to cheap fabrics, static is controlled by fabric softener and a spray thats called cling free.

cheapest solution is to use hairspray, any brand will work and to get rid of the lint (its called pilling) is to get a cheap disposable razor and literally shave your clothing, just be careful not to press to hard and it will take off all the pilling

don't put it in the dryer, let it hang dry and for static, rub a dryer sheet on it to reduce static.
