At my local chick-fil-a there is a double lane drive-thru system. One lane relies on the driver to pay and recieve the food. The other does the same thing with the passanger side. However, everytime I go, there are always cars with only a driver going through the passanger lane. My question is how do they do it? Do they reach drasically over the side and cause strain on themselves and the server? It baffels me :) I think its very inconsiderate.

yum, chick-fil-a! anyway, they are just trying to expedite things so it's no big deal. Just look at the ground and see if they dropped their money LOL

There is something similar at a local Rally's burger, one window on each side of the building. It works great because they are able to serve customers twice as fast. I have been at the "passenger pay" window several times rather than wait for three or four cars in the other line. So you reach over a bit, no big deal. If you can't reach all the way, they poke their head out and meet you half way.

We have Chick-fil-A, but I've never see one with a double-lane drive-thru system (must not get out enough!). But, I agree it is frustrating when that happens - I neither respect nor like people who "cheat" and ignore the rules! But the restaurant should monitor the double lanes and also have a HUGE sign enforcing/controlling the flow of traffic. Kinda' like the "HOV" lane on the parkway!

This is very true! It doesn't make sense to inconvenience a paying customer! Especially one that probably eats there all the time and supports the fast food place tremendously! But really, how hard is it to bend over and reach for a bag of food through the passenger side? Maybe it would be hard for someone who eats at this place a lil' too often (if ya know what I mean)! LOL

I've never seen one of these drive-thrus. How would that work? There's two windows across the lane from each other? I can't really wrap my head around it.

But, yeah, I guess they'd have to strain. How else could they get the money over to the cashier? You should experiment next time you go, and see how it all works.
