Yes, if is is a different area code, it could be an expensive scam.

Did you use caller ID block when you made the call? IF YOU GAVE OUT YOUR NUMBER TO A STRANGER, it was a bad idea. just having your number allows people to put bogus charges on your cell phone account. Apparently there is a scam involving a billing company called Mcube(spelling may be off a bit) who bills for all kind of bogus charges for things people never bought, and apparently Cingular is the company that bills for Mcube. if you complain, they reverse the charges, but maybe sneak them on later. SO CHECK YR BILLS carefully, do not give out yr number, and you should be OK.

you did a NICE thing for someone, enjoy the feeling, be prudent but keep helping people.

other crazy possiblilities include you called a terrorist or innocient citizen being bugged by the government so now you are being bugged . you were secretly subjected to a stress test.(why?). you have previously been hypnotized and now they gave you the word to make you walk down the street naked on Montgomery st. they taped your voice and used it to make unauthorized rap beats..... if you search on cell phone scams there are lots of cool sites..
