Thats a perplexing question.......... Hmn... Lemme think....
We are capable of being hurt because we are capable of love, pain, rejection, dispair, loss and death......... All things that cause emotions - that can be painful.
If you are asking why we can be PHYSICALLY hurt, it's because God didn't make us to have ever lasting life on THIS earth. Ever lasting life is intented for our souls to endure........... in heaven.

Well pain is a great way of telling us not to go to far.

Because we have the ability to think and to "feel" through the brain. Without the brain, we won't be able to feel. It is the brain that recognizes these stimuli and "tells" us to "feel" certain emotions. It is the brain that makes us conscious and aware. Without our rational brain, we will be just like animals without feelings of hurt.
