Hi !! Let me see: My mother is almost 84 years old. She is the most wonderfull person I know. What does she like? She plays cards 3 times per week. She sews, crochet, does rug hocking, paints, quilts, does reading at Church, puts together scripts and plays for the seniors groups, acts and sings. She still drives her own car and maintains her home. She still travels and loves to shop. She has a group of friends, the same since her childhood,-all widows. She seldomly goes to bed before 2 a.m. and has a nap everyday after lunch. Often she calls me, because I can never follow her coming and goings. WOW !! I can only hope to have half her energy and her quick and clear mind at her age. Since Dad's death 10 years ago this spring, she has not even dated saying that she enjoys her time and does not want to be tied down with a man because she is having so much fun. My prayer is that she will be with us for a few more GOOD years. She truly is my inspiration!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Nisha. If you're defining "elderly" as being over 65, I qualify. I like quiet, being with and talking with friends, eating comfortable meals that aren't too filling. Actually, there are more things that I find I no longer like. I can't hold my alcohol the way I used to so I don't like to drink as much. I can't stay up as late at night because I need my sleep. I don't desire as many "things", and my priorities are different. Status, status items, going places, seeing things, none of these are as important. Life has a way of narrowing your focus because you realize (I have realized) that only a few things are really important and I want to concentrate on them. I am fortunate in having a loving and wonderful wife so I like to spend time with her. I don't need to go out as much. And I find I really enjoy life much more. I see more to enjoy.

Elderly people like what everybody else likes... anything and everything, different for each one. What? Did you think they were always elderly? All those people you are generalizing that way were once exactly your age. Think about that for a moment, then answer your own question. :)

They like their independence. They like to be able to drive for as long as possible; the day they have to give up their car keys is a very sad day for them.
They like music from their era, the same foods they grew up with, so it depends on the age. They like to be around other people, many like to play cards and go to senior centers where they can talk and eat together. They like a CHEAP meals.
Their desires are to have companionship, and to be desirable to another person for as long as they live. They desire respect and dignity, and to be treated like someone who has lived and learned and has something valuable to teach the rest of us.

Everyone is different. It's not about what elderly people want, it's what the individual person wants. Most older people just need respect.

They like to talk about their life/family. They like volunteering, gardening, traveling, dancing, pets. Sometimes they like card games, karaoke, continuing to learn new things.
Foods they like would be according to what they can have without hurting their health.
I think the biggest desire would be a sense of purpose.

The elderly like to eat desserts and they like to do crossword puzzles. Some of them even still like having sex.
