When couples have lived together under one roof they grow together and buy things together. But when it's time for them to break-up each seem to claim a piece of property that is most valueable to them.

Material things cost allot of time: The time it takes to earn the money to buy them. Many spouses don't really want the stuff, they just don't want their mate to have it. Take a moment and decide what is worth fighting for. I've been married for 10 years. If I were to divorce tomorrow, I do believe I'd want my car so that I may go to work and continue to earn a living. Everything else is not worth my time. I would much rather put the time into working and buying my house all over again, than fighting for it- especially with someone whom I don't want in my life anymore. Does that make sense? Your pride, honor, peace of mind VS. the stereo, plasma, and jet ski. Best of luck to you.

I don't let them move in anymore because I own my own home. Back when I was a renter, I just walked out and left everything, and that's terribly expensive. Last time I did that, I moved 3000 miles away too because she kept showing up.
So I am more careful now.

I think they should split things evenly.
If he takes the stereo then she should get the television.
Living together without something in writing in case it doesn't work is not very smart for either person.
