Goo gone is your best bet.
But do not use a hair dryer, the heat will cause the glue to discolor your wood past the wax.
You can use a steam cleaner however because of the moisture this will not ruin your wood.

Let me guess, you bought the cheap masking tape, and left it in place for two weeks.

A hair dryer and putty knife will work, and it will not stain the floor unless you cook the masking tape.

Next time use the 3M blue masking tape. It is more expensive, but you won't have this problem in the future.

Avoid sharps. There is a product called goo-gone that works very well on stickers and tape.
