He did not get all the skin off near his eye the last time he shed and now it looks like the skin is stuck to his eye. Should I try to pull it off? Thanks

OMG - the answer is NO!!!

Geckos have been on this Earth for 200 million years. They KNOW how to shed skin. Eventually it will come off. If you decide to pull it off, you're going to rip his eyeball. Even if you try to be very gentle, you WILL DAMAGE HIS EYE.

You are trying to be helpful. That's great, but your kindness will result in giving your lizard immense pain. If it really looks bad after a couple of days take him to a vet. Please - don't torture your pet with good intentions!!

DO NOT PULL ON THE SKIN. you can cause lots of damage to the eye. You should bring him to a vet who has reptile expereince if there is not one around you can try squirting some sterile saline eye solution (same stuff you would buy for human use) on the eye. This may help hydrate the skin to help it fall off.

If you pull the skin off before it is ready it could hurt him. I would just mist him with water and let it fall off on its own. When reptiles shed it is kind of like a sunburn. It bothers them and the last thing they want is for it to be pulled off.

ok best thing to do here is to get someone to hold it, while you get a small piece of sticky tape and lightly press it against his eye and this will remove that excess skin that he didnt shed :)

Good Luck !

Ok im new to this site so have no idea how to do another post for a subject.

YES it can be dangerous to touch a reptiles eye, but sometimes its more dangerous IF its not dealt with. To leave skin that hasnt shed can at times cause infection and problems for the reptile. If you dont feel confident in dealing with it yourself goto your vet.

Nope. It would be best to leave it alone. The are no people pulling dead skin off of lizards in the wild. Its best to let nature take its natural course.

I dont suggest trying to pull it off; you could damage its eye. This is actually normal and your gecko will get it off with no problems. There is nothing to worry about.
