Melatonin - It's an over-the-counter tablet found among the vitamins in any supermarket or pharmacy. l/2 hour before bedtime and when you start really feeling tired, go to bed. I find saying an old learned child's prayer one way to take my mind off everything else until it's gotten to the point where I fall asleep before I've finished asking God's blessings for all my family members, friends and those who've crossed over already.
Hope this works for you, too.

First of all, no one has ever died of loss of sleep.
Personally, I don't like sleep aids.
I found that the more I "fight" not being able to sleep, the worse I make myself.
I have to just give in to the fact that I can't sleep and try reading, cleaning, taking a warm bath, drinking warm milk (I have to put a little sugar in it) or start a journal and write.
Just a few things to consider.
Good Luck!

Simply Sleep, you can buy it at the drugstore.
Take two tablets at night... it's safe and non-habit forming. I take this ALL the time (unfortunately, I'm an insomniac) so even if you can't get the full 8 hours of sleep, you won't feel completely groggy when you wake up.

melatonin is a natural, over the counter sleep aide. I regulates your bodies sleeping patterns by using a hormone your brain produces. it is non-addicting and I wake up feeling good never drowsy. I had had very good luck with melatonin it's worth a try. Mine is 3mg. and it has an added stress reliever called Theanine.

Try a warm cup of milk and if you don't like warm milk then drink an herbal tea with honey and warm milk.
If you are old enough a small glass of red wine.
I'm easy to find things to help me sleep. I always just have a cup of coffee with warm half and half and it puts me to sleep.

There is no sleep aid anywhere that both works well and does not have strong side effects. Try exercise.
