We bought a new shark and was told it was a rainbow shark but we have been sitting here looking at it and the only red this shark has is it's anal tail. The top fin and front fins are a dark blue fade to black and it has a white belly with a grey body. Can anyone tell me what kind of shark this is?

sounds like you have a red-tail shark. Check out the link below and it will give you more info...and you are right, a rainbow shark will have a red tail and red fins.

and by the way, the females have the white-ish bellies

He's probably right, but believe it or not I have seen some of those bala sharks come out with some funky colors on them down here in florida. Here is a wesite you can use to identify your fish. It's about the best fish website there is.

If you dont recognize it in any of the photos on this website, email a picture of it to me. I work at a petstore and I can tell you what any fish is.

--Come get a real fish if youre ever in florida!
