The IP4300 has what is known as a Cassette at the bottom of the printer. Inside it has 3 different guides. Adjust the two size guides to the size of your photo paper, usually 4x6in (10x15cm). You may need to pull back the third lever, and push the front of the tray inwards to make the tray smaller. When you print, click properties. Change media type to your kind of photo paper, and adjust media source to Cassette. Then click the Page setup tab and change the papert size to your size of photo paper. You can avoid some of the adjustments by using the canon Easy photo print software supplied with the printer.

Alternatively you can also load the photo paper into the normal sheet feeder and adjust the guide on the left to hold the photo paper in place. In the print properties you should then specify the Paper source as the Auto sheet feeder or paper feed switch ( in this case you must press the paper feed switch so that the light indicates the upper tray of the printer).

these are the procedures for the IP4200 which is almost identical, otherwise check the manual.
