If you haven't used something in the last year, the odds are that you won't use it. I used to be a packrat, too, but had to move from a 5 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment and, trust me, that was hard but I finally had to get rid of a lot of useless things (including 2 closets full of clothes) and now that it's gone, I'm OK with it. I realize now that the stuff was just taking up space.

Think of the people who have NOTHING! THAT'S what I do. I say to myself, "Am I REALLY ever going to wear this chartreuse blazer with shoulder-pads again? Uh, NO!!" and I give it to the Salvation Army. I may have thought the blazer was ugly and outdated, but SOMEONE will be THRILLED to own it! If the item happens to be something that I DO like, but can't decide to keep it or let it go, I BASICALLY apply the same technique. If I haven't used it in 6 months-chances are I don't NEED it, and there's SOMEONE out there with NOTHING who does! PS.DON'T FORGET TO GET A RECEIPT! IT'S A TAX WRITE OFF TOO!!! =)

It may help to have a friend go through stuff with you.
Use the 6 month rule of thumb. If you haven't used it in at least 6 months or more give it to someone who will. Also things that are buried in boxes, etc. If you didn't know what was in them would you miss them in your life? Probably not.

well i would never do it either and thats cuz i had money all the time now life has takin its beating on me and well i dont have cash to have for myself...so i just donate what i have and you know what if you think about it, it really feels good just to know your helping a person in need...and hopefully something good can happend to you too just got to do it to see what happens...
there is no right or wrong decision whether you choose to do it or not i dont think it would be the end of the world you dont have to give donations if you dont want to maybe one day when you feel like you want to you will do it just that right now for whatever reason you dont want to do it its fine no wrong in that...

Think about how important the item really is. Can you use it on a regular basis? If it's not useful, get rid of it. Remember: You have to clear out the old to make room for the new. Let that be an incentive.

the easiest way to do this is get a box bag or tote start putting things in there that you don't use don't take anything out if you do take something out replace it with something else donate this after two weeks do this twice a year and you wont be cluttered again

i think the 1st question could be: do you ought to study? some people won't be able to assessment ok by using examining. they want the stimulation of lecture. perhaps you ought to be recommended what to do or be shown, even. that ought to be greater in line inclusive of your gaining information of form. There ought to be lots of astounding people on your training which you would be able to ask for help, and there is often the instructor.

its a mental will, you need to take your clothes to the donation bucket or whatever, and then without thinking, dump it in there
the problem is people (me included) think too much "well what if i need it? what if i know someone close to me that needs it? i should keep it for later..." we make all these excuses, we need to just quit thinking about it, and do the action

Think about it this way.....
It's in your closet doing nothing.
It could be keeping someone warm....or someone could wear it on a job interview....or someone could really love something that to them is new and lovely.
You'll feel so much better by helping others.

Just tell yourself that you don't need it and there are alot of less fortunate people that could really use the stuff you have just taking up space.
