I am a writer and I need help for a new story involving some kind of animal. It has to be extremely large due to mutations, lethal, and scary. However, I want it to be unoriginalso no snakes, bats, spiders, etc. And it has to be on land. Help?

I forget what they are called, but what about those nasty lizards? The ones that are big and have so much infection in their mouth that they can bite a big water buffalo and it's dead within a few days. Nasty critters ... ugh, what do they call those things? Something dragon?
But be aware, there is a book out there already involving genetic mutation for the purposes of war of just such a lizard. Better have a good original story!
