My son did this once when he was about two years old. We took him to the emergency room (we didn't want to take any chances). After being grilled by the admitting nurse, ER nurse, ER doc, and a social worker as to how the accident happened, they finally told us that he was fine.
Since then, I've learned a bit more about concussions and what to look for. Basically, if she is talking and walking around, doesn't seem dizzy and is behaving normally, she is probably fine. If you notice her poking at her ears more than usual, if her pupils don't react to light correctly (they should contract if you shine a small flashlight into them, then expand again when you move the flashlight away), or if she acts differently than usual, you should probably seek medical help.
Note that signs of a concussion can take several days to appear... watch her closely for several days after the fall for any of the signs above. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to give your pediatrician a call in the morning.

My son fell down the stairs.. he cried too.. he was fine the next day. But because she has a bump on her head make sure there are no signs of a concussion.. if she is alert and playing she will be just fine. Make sure you feel up and down her arms and legs if she cries out then she might have a bruise or something underneath the skin that might not surface until the next day. Babies are resilient they get hurt and get right back up again. If you still think the next day somethings wrong then take her in .. and doctors visit cant hurt. Hope shes okay

Don't worry, all kids take spills and falls of some sort. I know it is hard since she probably isn't talking a lot and doesn't have good balance, otherwise check to see if her demeanor changes at all. If she sleeps at odd times, when she wouldn't usually. Most likely there is nothing else wrong, especially if she only cried for a minute and has been as active as normal. All three of my kids fell off the bed as babies, my son tumbled off the bed when he was four days old. (I know people are going to have a field day with this) my doctor said if that is the worse thing that ever happens to him I should be grateful.

One thing toddlers do a lot is fall .Luckily they are usually flexible enough to roll with it-unless of course the head gets banged too hard . The first thing to do after determing she is OK , is not to let her go right to sleep . Keep her awake awhile . Vomiting or loss of consciousness is a medical emergency . Crying for a minute seems normal . If anything is broken she'd scream ; especially when you touch or move her . Move her limbs one by one & if she giggles , she's not broke . If the fall was a seriously hard fall and she is vomiting , she could be bleeding internally .Yes , it happened to mine and they were ok .

My daughter when she was just learning to walk took a spill on concreat. Sad to say I was not fast enough, and my poor baby had quite the bump on her head. I would say go see the doctor to make sure. You can generally tell whether there is any reason to suspect a concusion. By the sounds of it she should be ok. Just put some ice on it. And give her a big kiss all better.

I've got a 15 month old who is a climber, so I'm afraid of the same type of thing happening with him.
Personally, I'd take her to the emergency room. You hear so many stories about shaken baby syndrom causing permanent brain damage - I'd ALWAYS err on the side of caution.
I don't know how hard she fell, or how violently she hit her head - but if it were my son, I'd get him checked out tonight.

by the time my daughter was this age, she had four stiches in her eyebrow, lost a fingernail, bit through her lower lip, severly burned 8 out of 10 fingers, and fell out a window. i took her to the doc. every time just to check her out. it's unfortunate that docs have to question the reasons little ones get hurt, but they do. if you have a good pediatrician, you don't need to worry. i call my doc's office and just say, "hi. bethany got hurt again". They know who i'm talking about just by that. "some kids learn by watching; others learn by doing. " That's a quote from our pediatrician. Things happen.

For god sakes keep your kid away from stairs. Sommersaulting down stairs could be serious. She should be able to tell you where it hurts. If she seems ok there is probably nn emergency. Watch her closely and if any thing seems queer take her to a doctor tomorrow

The times either of my kids hit their heads and I called the hospital they always said keep an eye on them, watch for changes in behavior, things like if they don't recognize you, won't eat, drink, etc. They also told me, even though it's a pain in the butt, to wake them up every hour and if they wake up confused, then to take them in. Just make sure she knows who you are and is acting like her usual self. They said to watch for this stuff for 24 hours. Good luck, hope she's ok.
