US drivers licenses are not convalidated in Spain and I'd like to get an approximate number of New Yorkers living here so I can research how to change the regulations.

Spain drivers licenses aren't canvalidated in the USA either........ you shouldn't change regulations! in the states and in Spain the exams are way too different, the written exam in Spain asks you to know things that in the states they don't even mention, the driving regulation are different, etc.. I'm not saying you won;t be able to drive well in Spain but there are too many differences for the actual license to be convalidated...........you should have gotten the international license when you where in the states, it useful for a year the only thing you need on you is your us license, the international and your passport
