There is little chance that troops will be in Iraq throughout 08 despite the condition on the ground, because keeping them there would be political suicide for the Republcans and their White House run. Will Bush declare victory in a losing war, withdraw, and leave the place an unholy mess?

Ah yes, the old "Bush doesn't read polls" line. You know he only says that because he read a poll indicating that it's what people want to hear, right?

He has the guts, desire, and will but he has no support from the weak kneed, spineless, Democrat controlled congress. He is a man that is guided by a since of right and wrong and not polls. He does not care about being politically correct and he does not care about the elections because he is not like the Democrats who do everything by the polls and whatever else they have to do to get elected. I think it is refreshing to see a politician who is driven by a moral compass and not by politics.

Bush has guts to do unpopular strides in the middle east now cause if we waited it would be worse in the next decade with dirty bombs and atomic power making the trade center look like child's play in comparison. Radical Islam knows americans are fat and lazy with no real convictions and Bush is trying to do a job with his hands tied behind his back cause he has to rely on the american public for supporting the revolution efforts in the middle east. Just imagine if we americans had left the Japanese alone or the Germans alone just cause things get MESSY !

He already declared victory (aka "Mission Accomplished") about two years ago, didn't he? And what would "finishing the job" look like? I agree that we can't just wash our hands of the situation--we broke it, so we have some responsibility in easing that damage. But breaking it further won't help either. And all of this has a great deal more to do with intelligence than guts.

Since opinion polls don't show the reality of what needs to be done. If Bush is concerned more with opinion then what needs to be done, then he doesn't deserve the title of President. That goes for any future president as well.

He'll stick with it. He knows he can't leave Iraq the way it is now. Besides, if he was worried about political sucide he wouldn't have even gone to Iraq. Everyone knows everythings going to the democrats next anyway, that's just how it works. He won't do any of your dumb ideas, he's got a heart.

Iraq was a mess with Clinton bombing it for 8 years prior and our troops are mainly in Iraq today cleaning and building up a new infrastructure even though there are liberal americans and Iraqis/iranians trying to tear it all back down again

It's hard to say because so far every single decision he has made has been the worst possible one he could choose, down to and including this stupid surge idea. When someone is unintelligent, doesn't listen to any other ideas and lives in a bubble, it's very hard to predict what "thoughts" he might come up with.

He has the guts but do enough of the American people?

As Osama bin Laden puts it: "In this final phase of the ongoing struggle, the world of the infidels was divided between two superpowers--the United States and the Soviet Union. Now we have defeated and destroyed the more difficult and the more dangerous of the two. DEALING WITH THE PAMPERED AND EFFEMINATE AMERICANS WILL BE EASY."

Yes. Bush has plenty of guts. He does not decide based on polls. He will do what he thinks is right.
