I finally got the surgery approved by my health insurance so I am scheduling a date asap with this surgeon. He has great recommendations from some family friends that had the same procedure.
Do you have any recommendations or questions I should ask? For example, my aunt told me to loose as much weight as possible so when they do the lift it won't sag if I have to loose 20lbs. I don't think I am that overweight, but could loose a few ;)

I understand folks may have their reservations on surgery. But the reasons why I am doing this is that I have severe back problems. Much more, bras in my size only come in underwires that poke my pancreatic area. I had severe bouts with pancreatitis and they want me to not have pressure in this area.

You could work at losing as much weight as you can. I tell you with MY weight loss I haven't lost anything in the boob area (except for the surgery haha).

Tips: .

Go to amazon.com and get some arnica montana tablets. It will help with your swelling and bruising.

Check out http://www.breasthealthonline.com and look at the FAQ's for breast reduction. Also look at the "healing diet".

For your scars, mine are 95% gone and I had my surgery in Feb '06, so the scars are NOT horrible as one answerer says. Mederma, Scarguard, and Palmers Scar Serum helped lighten my scars greatly.

Take off two weeks for work, more if you are in an active job where you do a lot of pulling and lifting.

Contact me for more info, check out the breasthealthonline site, and congratulations on your upcoming journey!

People told me to lose weight before my surgery too, but I didn't. I had the surgery at 116 pounds (and a FF cup) and afterwards, I was a C, but I lost 15 pounds, and now I'm down to a large B. So the MAIN reason that you want to lose weight first is that you're going to get smaller if you wait to lose it after the surgery.

As for questions to ask, make sure you're clear on what you need to do before and after the surgery, in order to prepare. I got all of my drugs and had them at the house and ready to go. I also recommend buying a lift pillow, so that you don't roll over onto them. That is not fun!

You're going to love the results! Good luck!

My mother had a breast reduction about 7 months ago or so, they did resize the nipple, basically they took it off during the surgery then reapplied it and made it much smaller. I am assuming they lifted them she was a 36 e and now a 36c and she can actually wear spaghetti strap shirts without a bra and she looks great! hope this helped

I would stay away from this. this is gonna scar you for the rest of your life. l was gonna look into lt but this friend of my sister well l guess she had lt done and lt`s very ugly. the scars are very bad. lt`s not even worth the price of having lt done. my suggestion will be don`t get lt done cause you`ll regret lt later in life.
