After having a C/S, your bleeding (or Lochia) should decrease over time and the color should be very light, if not gone, by your 6 week check up. If the color begins to lighten up and then goes back to bright red, this is a sign that you are doing too much!!!!!!! Please, do your body a favor and take it easy until the bleeding has stopped. You not only had a baby, you had major abdominal surgery as well!

Congratulations on your new arrival!

I had my own little bundle delivered by c-section on Jan 3 and i am still bleeding a little bit, but definately not as much as i was just after the birth. If you find there is still quite a bit of blood and/or its still quite bright red it wont hurt to go to your doctor and get a check up.

I have known many of my friends to bleed up to 5-6 weeks afterwards but there definately isnt much blood at the end. If your worried and want a checkup its always good to get some assurance from your doctor. Always better safe than sorry. Cheers and good luck.

Bleeding after Cesarean section will usually last between two and four weeks, with the heaviest bleeding occurring in the first two or three days. Small amounts of dark blood may persist up to six weeks. If you do to many physical activities you could cause yourslef to bleed heavier and longer. If you are still bleeding past 6 weeks, contact your Dr. Best wishes!

I had a c-section 6 weeks ago, and it took 28 days for me. With my first c-section it was almost 6 weeks! Hang in there.

After labor ( or a c section )your uterus will slough off tissue from its lining, which results in what might seem like a monthlong period. "In most women, it changes from bright or dark red blood to a pink blood, then to a clear or yellowish discharge over the first few weeks," Dr. Karjane says. "Some women will stop bleeding for a day or so, but the bleeding can start up again as you engage in more activity. As long as there is no fever or abdominal or uterine pain, discharge and mild bleeding in the first six weeks is normal."

yeah i bled on and off for a while after my c-section. I cannot remember how long it was i felt like i was bleeding for months. Just when i thought it has stopped it would start again. The midwife told me to make sure it wasn't "real blood", which it wasn't it was like diluted blood, if that makes sense! and also look out for a pungent smell. If any of those things occur see your doc you could have an infection.
I think it was about 6-8 weeks. Then the period started any way. So if you are bottle feeding only expect your period to start soon as well

P.S. i was sore from my wound for about 6 months as well

I am sure your fine just the uterus getting back to size.

If it's not heavy bleeding, it might be normal. I had all c-sections and I found that if I was on my feet too much or lifted too much, etc. then things would start acting back up a little. Breastfeeding can also play a role in it. It takes six weeks for your uterus to get back to normal. If it's heavy I'd call the doctor. Good Luck.

it is normal to bleed for three to four weeks after delivery adn you may have started your period during this time and cannot tell the difference, as long as you are not passing clots constantly and do not have a fould odor you should be fine, if you keep bleeding for several more days like 3 or 4 and the amount is not decreasing at all give your doctor a call

Never had a c-section, but something tells me you should contact your dr. Have you been bleeding SINCE your c-section or have you recently started bleeding? I would just call the dr to be safe.
