If so, how are true American values incongruous with white supremacy?

White supremacy is indeed anti-American. We are a society founded on the premise that "all men are created equal." Granted, that ideal was imperfectly realized at teh beginning of this country--and has yet to be fully realized.

The whole basis of white supremacy is an attempt to define one group--whites--as having political, social, and economic power and privilege--while at the same time denying those things to anyone not defined as "white." There are an endless list of spurious "justifications" for this--but they all come down to claiming other "races" are somehow "inferior." But the whole sckeme'ls logic fails at this point--according to the supremicists's own logic. Why? Because if they really "superior" they would not need to create barriers, deny voting rights, and all the sorry baggage that goes with white supremacy. If they wre truely superior, they would come out on top--simply by playing fair.

The basic values of this country are directly opposite of such ideologies. As Jefferson wrote,, we all are entitled to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happieness." Those words, in a nutshell, spell out the basic values of America. The white supremecist ideology denies that some people are to be allowed those rights. It's really jsut that simple.

And--much of the history of America has been to more completely realize that ideal. We are closer to it today than 50 years ago--just as at that time America was closer to that ideal than 100 years before that. White supremecists--or any bigoted group--would turn the clock back--make America less than she can be--less than she has become. And if that's not anti-American, I don't know what is.

Actually that's an interesting question, because while the founding fathers words were eloquent, they weren't truly intended for everyone. Almost all of the men that signed the Declaration of Independence owned slaves at one point or another.. and the position of property owner which so prevalent in the language is again a specific group of Rich White Men.. so depending on what you are getting at.
Common sense would say .. as many of the responses have, ..No, racial arrogance in any form is anti -Americanism,..
but that hasn't stopped systemic racism and more importantly class-ism from being the status quo.

White supremacy is anti-Constitution and anti-American in real values. But this country, I'm afraid to say, has a long history and legacy of white supremacy and it is still going on today. People don't wear sheets any more or obvious idiocies like that, but this whole war could be argued that white supremacy is driving it and our government's drive toward empire. We may tout that we are about equality, but what is going on in N.O contradicts that completely. The U.S is founded on dualism and has a very dualistic nature. black/white, good/evil, poor/rich, etc. etc. Even our government is bi-cameral. It's really not a good model for the times we live in today when the realities we live in today are not dualistic in nature.

The term "white supremacy" has no meaning... the Caucasian race is the minority in the world. Those who espouse such meaningless values do so out of fear and ignorance...which is a shame, really. Someone who is well-educated, well read and well traveled would recognize the world's diversity and not fear. Is it anti-American? Sure; it is anti-everything; education, knowledge, history, religion, - you name it. But, those who espouse the principle do provide a few really good belly laughs!

It's basically just a reaction to the NAACP and Black Panthers, both of which are incongruous with humanity.

At the time that the Declaration of Independence was ratified, black men were considered only 3/5 of a human being.

On adoption of the 13th Amendment, that changed.

White separatism is not anti-American, and if you use statistical evidence, there are many areas where whites are supreme so your question is too broad regarding supremacy.

Yes. Because the United States was created with the idea that the individual, and reason, is supreme. Racism, in any form, is not rational. To think that a person's worth is due to his heritage, or race, is not rational, and therfore, un-American.

Before you lefties start talking about how Jefferson had slaves....was it not until this country came into being that slavery was considered immoral worldwide? Yes, we had to fight a bitter war to come to that finality, but it was the ideals of this country that made it happen.

The supremacy of any one group is anti-Democratic. Since the USA is a democracy, then any "supremacy" is anti-American.

Besides the Declaration of Independence stating "That all men are created equal." There is the ideal of equal protection under the law. Bigotry of any kind, weather it is anti black, anti Jewish, anti green people...whatever....is wrong. Base your opinion of people on their actions not their appearance, religion or any other criteria. Base your opinion on the heart of people not the color.
