For half my life we've been together, through all the ups and downs. There have been times when voices have been comforting, and times when they have been loud. There have been times when I actually knocked him down when it was called for and times when he melted in my arms. And I've melted too, don't get me wrong. It just seems that in any relationship love needs a moment or two of hate to validate itself. After all these years and ceremony confirmed by my temple which is legal, what is up with the Feds favoring one religon over the other. And regarding civil union, I'd go for it if it were to grant me the 1000+ automatic rights that heterosexuals get. As a law abiding citizen I don't understand why my country has abaonded me, I NEVER abandonded my country. Thank you for your thoughts.

Beautifully put, Milkbone. I don't get it, either. My wife is my heart and soul and we love more deeply than I have seen in most straight couples I know. And yet, my brother could go to Vegas tonight, pick up a stripper and marry her tomorrow. How is marriage "protected" by keeping the queers away, when so many straight people obviously don't care about their marriages anyway! If marriage was really sanctified, there would not be so many divorces and second, third and fourth marriages. Give me a break.

I agree with you 100%! It will change, but the process will be slow. Patience and persistence is the answer. People will come to realize what is right; I have no doubt about that. Religions are the SLOWEST to change, I believe that it was only a few years ago that Pope John Paul 2 apologized for the INQUISITION!!

In a country where freedom of religion is a right, the religious fundamentalists want to change the country into a religious state. They don't seem to realize all the dangers that this presents to freedoms!!! As I always like to say, If you want to live in a religious state, MOVE TO IRAN!!!

It's sad that we are still living in such a prejudice society. It is quite pathetic that the government is still denying you and so many others these rights. If I do find a partner, I will likely be going through it too. It just isn't right.

I think this whole gay marriage situation is stupid. it shouldnt even be a situation. when two people love each other... any two people.... they should be able to confirm that with a marriage. It is upsetting not to see more people be outraged over this. Well, it will all be okay in the end because we will still fight for what is rightly yours.

people are really close-minded, and the politicians just use that to their advantage. if all the gay people in america put together millions of dollars and lobbied some senator, it could get better

We shall overcome,
we shall overcome,
we shall overcome, some day-ay-ay-ay-ay
oh, deep in my heart, I do believe
that we shall overcome someday

Keep the faith, brother.
