Part way through the movie when he was talking to Jennifer, he saw the truck on a flat bed and said, "someday, Jennifer". Well when he went back in time and changed the events, his family became the family he had always wanted. Successful, not used as a pathway. So by changing the events, he ended up with the truck he someday wanted.

In back to the future, Marty got the truck as a birthday present from his parents, but the way he got it, he went back in time to make sure his dad wasnt a pushover, and so the dad became a great author, and they had lots of money, and marty made sure his parents got him the truck. it was something he had seen in his alternate present, and really wanted. and when he went back to the past, his mom fell in love with him, and thats why he made his dad not be a pushover. and due to that, he became a great author and so when he went back to the future, after meddling in the past, his parents had all kinds of money, so he got them to get him the truck as a b-day gift. so the truck was a byproduct of his meddling in the past.
