Does it hurt or help them when they receive money? Do they use the money on food?
I gave money before but the next time I saw the same guy, he looked more out of it than before...(made me think he used the money for booze).

they just want booze cause i know my ex went to mcdonalds and got a big bag of food and gave it to some homeless guy and he said that he didnt want it but he wanted money so she just threw the bag at him and walked away. its a good thing i wasnt with her when she did it cause i would have explaned that all they want is money for booze

I don't know because some of the "homeless" people aren't even homeless. Some people just dress up and go out in the streets and ask for money. My friend told me that it can be very profitable but i don't know if she was telling the truth. Yes, most of them us the money you give them for booze and drugs. If i were you i would give your hardearned money to the homeless shelter or the salvation army. Then you know where your money is really going toward.

Studies show that 9 times out of 10, the money is used on booze, drugs or cigarettes, Offer them food, blankets, or clothes if they accept, they are probably truly needy, if they refuse, they probably want the money for drugs, booze or cigarettes.

I would highly recommend giving them food over money every time. If they were smart they'd use the money they were given to get they're asses off the streets. You wouldn't want to be robbed would you? I think there are alot of professional homeless people out there as well who are not actually homeless.

I used to see these homeless people who lived by the river in Colorado Springs standing on the corner begging for money. Then one time I saw them in a store and guess what they were buying? Beer! They probably needed food, but hey, what can you do?

They will (not all of them) most likely spend the money on alcohol or drugs so if you want to help a homeless person just buy them food or something.

heres the thing. we have a homeless community in the woods outside of my wealty area. Our church is going to be opening the doors for them at night to sleep inside, cause its getting down into the 20's( we have a new nice 5 million dollar church )
I think its great that our community and church is doing this, I have never heard of anyone else doing this. BUT alot of those homeless come to sunday services caus we see them there =)
Ive donated money to them, clothes and jackets.
Id rather give them day to day stuff rather than money

Homeless ppl choose to be homeless most of the times, and yes he most likely used it for booze or drugs. I sound obnoxious but its true.

They use the money for cigarettes and booze out here in sunny California. The food, they steal.....

I have given homeless people money before. I think its better to give them food.
