No, he didn't die. That was just a rumor. According to a 15 minute documentary on Nickelodeon, titled "The 10 years of Blue", Burns left Blue's Clues because he was losing his hair and he did not want kids to know he was going bald.

He didnt die. he was like a drug addict or something, so they brought another guy 'joe' and said steve went to college and joe was his 'brother'

He quit the show as he was going bald and wanted to play fulltime in a rock band. It wasnt very successful.

In the show he left for college.Thats why Joe is on there now. In real life I have no idea what happened to him

I'm not so sure what exactly happened to him, but I heard he commit ed suicide, cause of family problems. I don't watch it any more, but if I did I would want him back.
