If you’re doing 60mph in 3rd gear, I am going to assume you’re cycling your engine very high; probably over 5K rpm’s or close the gears red line depending on the car. Running a gear at a high RPM that is dangerously over the red line my damage the vehicle. If you let off the gas completely your car's engine will slow down the vehicle fairly quickly until you normalize your speed for that gear. Once your speed is normalized you will continue to slow down and eventually will need to push the clutch in (probably around 20mph) or you will stall the car.

All that will happen is that the car will slow down - were you expecting it to explode or something? It won't hurt anything - it is made to be used like that. You down shift by letting the car slow down a little more (to about 35) and pressing the clutch and shifting into 2nd gear and easing the clutch back out (don't touch the gas pedal), when the car gets to about 15 or 20, shift to first gear - gently! If you need to speed up anytime during this process, just press the gas and speed up and shift up though the gears like you normally do.

the car will simply begin to slow down as it would an automatic, howeverit will slow down and drop to a certain RPM so that the car starts to jerk or the gears will start to make grinding noises until eventually possibly stalling. to downshift simply wait for the RPMs to come down to abot 1800 and then push in the clutch and downshift to 2nd, but only once the RPMs have come down on therir own.

that's kind of fast for 3rd gear, you will experience "engine braking " when the engine slows you down. if you were in 4th and went down to 3rd that would be a downshift , dont do it at a speed that is higher than what you would normally drive at in that gear or you may damage your engine

you're speed will decrease until your about 10 mph"s and then the car will sputter and die. you need to push in the clutch and drop to 2nd gear or speed up and shift into 4th
