First, to your question: yes, your gas water heater will continue to operate if you are on public water, you have a standard tank water heater, and your gas supply is constant. The thermostat is not connected to an electrical power source as it generates the small amount of electricity it needs to control its own thermostat. There is no provision for a gas water heater to be connected to any electrical power source. Finally, I know that it's common language, but why do we call water heaters hot water heaters. That's just redundant. If we naturally had hot water, why would we need to heat it? Just a pet peeve of mine. No malice intended...lol.

Yes, it will continue to heat your water if your electric goes out, unfortunately, if you're out in the country, and have your own well, the pump won't move any water thru the heater to get it out of the faucet. A gas water heater uses NO electricity. If you live in a city, then the water pressure should be there regardless of whether you have electricity or not.

a gas water heater will work with the power off unless is a direct vent model with a blower on it for the vent. A regular hot water heater does not use any electrical power and does not have any electrical wires going to it.

Yes and possibly no. If you live in an area where you need a water pump aka "well", then you will loose the ability to fill your water heater if your power were to be lost. If you have city water or an otherwise independent source of water from electricity, then you'll be able to enjoy your hot showers without power.

If that's the only situation, call a plumber and ask how a lot to place in a clean gasoline water heater. Then have it put in whether you're able to desire to develop the value by using $one thousand. that's a small quantity whilst thinking a 20 years very own loan and it then is blanketed in the loan. bypass to between the enormous container shops and value gasoline heaters, they do no longer seem to be that costly. i've got faith the priority right here is the situation with the supplier having to handle the situation or you doing it.

YES!!! It will keep your water heated. When your heated water supply runs out, the water heater heats up some more. When their power goes out, my friends shower at my house.

yes, provided it is not a direct vent (high efficiency) water heater. if there is a standing pilot it will work. If you're using well water, the pump won't so the water heater would become irrelevant.

no. because, while the gas is burning, the water is getting hotter and hotter and when the water is very hot, an electric thermostat turns off the gas valve (otherwise the tank would explode)
