Add 14, for 8a = x^2 +15
Divide by 8, for a = (x^2 +15) /8

if you mean 8x-14=x^2+1, then...

isolate the x's and the constants. you get:
x^2-8x+15=0

then, make binomials:
(x-3)(x-5)=0

go from there. figure out the x values.

I dunno how I would do it. But I know how you would do it. You'd cheat and cop out, going to yahoo answers to have your homework done for you.
