Early and on-going prenatal care is important for the health of the baby and mother. Call a doctor or midwife once you are sure you are pregnant or even suspect a pregnancy to schedule an appointment. Your first visit will consist of a complete physical and some blood work to confirm that you are indeed pregnant and not having some other medical problem that imitates a pregnancy. Congratulations and enjoy being pregnant. It's only 9 months of your life (although that last 6 weeks or so can seem an eternity, LOL). And take some childbirth classes the last 2 months so that you will be prepared for labor.

well 1st you do a 'happy dance' =)
then yes you need to make a doc. appt. right away because sometimes it will take a week or so to get you in. so don't put it off. when you do call them, make sure to find out what you need to bring, other than my i.d., insurance card, etc.....they had me bring a proof of pregnancy. i just went to a free clinic and took a p/t and they gave me a paper saying i was preg. (why they couldn't do this at the doc. office, i don't know) yours may be different.
as for the first appointment, they will ask a bunch of questions about family health and stuff, blood tests, and usually a pelvic exam
i hope i helped. congrats!

find a doctor. they will set you up with an appointment and it won't be any time soon. some doctors won''t even see you until you are a certain amount of weeks along. first appointment consists of height, weight, blood pressure, paper work, due date, and things like that. i didn't even meet with the doctor on my first appointment for either one of my children. i met with the nurse first.

You should call your OB as soon as you get a pos. result and see when they want you to come in. At the very least have them call in a script for prenatal vits. The first appt will be confirming you are pregnant via urine or blood tests. They will probably do a pap and pelvic exam. Blood will be drawn for numerous tests. And of course they will check weight, blood pressure, etc.

You should decide whether you want to see an OB, a doctor, a midwife, or do your own prenatal care. This is a serious decision with long-ranging possible consequences.
Then you need to find a careprovider, they can be in short supply depending on where you live.
The first appointment depends on who you see.

My first visit they took 5 tubes of blood, did a papp smear and mamagram, checked height, weight, blood pressure, pregnancy counseling, they go over insurance with you, prescribe prenatals, urine sample, ultrasound and sizing of uterus. I'm sure I forgot something it took 3 hours. Best wishes and Congratulations.
