Honestly, I'd be more concerned about the types of neighborhoods, rather than taxes. Wouldn't you rather pay more taxes to be in a safe, clean neighborhood? When looking for a place in SA, make sure you go by there at night and on the weekends. Then, you'll get the true picture of any neighborhood. Good luck.

The only thing that I've heard about not having to pay a lot on taxes, is to basically not live within the city limits. There are plenty of towns or cities with sub-divisions being built all around San Antonio. It just depends on what are your needs, like being close to a college or school, or living near your job, you know, those type of considerations.

As a Realtor in SA, I can safely say that its all gonna be in the same general area as far as Taxes go. Its really the only knock on texas, the land is cheaper but the Taxes will murder you. As mentioned before, it would be best to live outside the city and commute to work if you're trying to save money on taxe (you'll make it up on gas) but honestly its not worth it. If you're not putting more than 20% down on your house you'll be forced to pay escrow taxes along with your mortgage payment, in the escrow account are the funds that will be used to pay your taxes. It all works out for you anyway. You could also try some of the subcommunities of SA, like Converse, or Schertz...I hear they have lower taxes but I'm not sure....the big thing to look out for are the school taxes...thats where most of your tax money will be going.

If you live outside of loop 1604 you don't pay city taxes. Plus of course the lower the price of the home then less actual money you will pay in Taxes. Dale Williams from Keller Realty is a great Real Estate Buyers Agent who can help you find a home within your price range.

It's all basically the same. But, I'd suggest somewhere you can afford. You've got to be John Hagee or George Strait to afford the Dominian, so stay somewhere probably in the northern south side.
