It would fully depend upon a persons interpretation of what constitutes failure. Regardless of what happens to us we can learn from it. To quote Spock, "for everthing there is a first time." How can one comprehend what a failure is if he has not enjoyed success as well. Then again to some merely living another day is a triumph, so all things are truly relative to how we choose to take them, based upon our experiences and perspective. The oriental philosophy dictates that Every man is my master in that I may learn from him. Based on this premise it would stand to reason that if we would but learn from anothers "failure" we could succeed in avoiding it ourselves. So it appears that even though we can fall on our butt sometimes, Its not always necessary before we get the point. Carpe Diem

Not necessarily. if everything is ending up as well as good, then you're ready to take your big climb up the stair. People face different circumstances, in this instance i would like to cite for example that there are those who make it to the limelight without having to fail -by fluke or by influence of other people, or all the kudos could be just all attributed to the person himself. If one fails, his overlooked mistakes must be the reminder for him to double check with the itemized code ensuring that he wont fail again the next time. Grandma Moses once said 'learn from the mistakes of others. One can't live long enough to face the mistake himself".

For some people.
Say you have a talented and passionate actor. Yet their personality is overly arrogant, hard to work with. You see, his arrogance over compensates for his abilities. This brings the actors dream to failure. However, with failure he comes to realize his mistake. With a little thought here and there he changes this and that and picks himself up. He charges his dream yet again. Only to succeed!
There are those who have to learn the hard way. Others can catch this before having to take the fall. People are people and nobody is the same. So it is different for everyone in every part of their lives. (I think.)

It is true in the sense that in order to even seek a high level of success, you have to understand what it really means to have that kind of success ... and unless you fail at many lesser things, you won't, you will just be a little success.

This kind of conundrum has many faces.
You can't have pleasure without pain.
Yin without yang.
And so on.
It is hard to measure success unless failure is a notch on the yardstick. Ones appreciation for any success achieved is undercut if that success is achieved too easily.

In order to succeed you must realize your progression from either your failure or accomplishments. Its not the failure that makes you succeed its your growth. I hope i answered your question.

None of the greatest achievements in history were accomplished on the first try. failure is part of the cycle of discovery, learning and life in general. How we use what we learn from our failures is what helps us succeed
