Surprisingly Harrisburg PA is listed as number 12th best place to live in the US on last year's Kiplingers magazine. And the main reason is for it's senior friendliness. Lower living costs ($190K for 3 bedroom townhouse with $2300 property tax). State capital so it's convenient for your retirement red tapes. Lots of VA facilities/hospitals for your medical care. Amazingly large percent of townhouses with1st floor master bedroom. Have Hershey (sweetest place on earth) and Lancaster (Amish communities offer unique cultural experience. There are a good number of golf courses, too. The only drawback is cold winter, but if you still ski after you retire -- there's one that's 30 min away!
