I don't understand that part of the movie. Especially the part where she beats her up in the solitary confinement cell.

i think it is out of frustration. although we didn't see it we can imagine how brutal her death was and it was committed by mirandas husband. that was my interpretation

Because Miranda's husband raped and killed her (the Ghost) and Miranda saw it and flipped out! So they stuck her in the ward and the ghost comes back to remind her!
