He claims he thought the show was not gonna last when he took the job. The next season, he says he was invited back, but he didn't like Ryan Seacrest. He said Ryan cared more about getting in people's faces and exploiting them when they were just embarassed on national television. He has a website that he runs whenever Idol is on, he did a radio tour last year.

They got rid of him because his presence wasn't really necessary. After the first season it was decided that only one host was needed.

I'm guessing its because he didnt like how the show treated people.
